August meeting, so long farewell

So long farewell to our usual meeting place. The amazing Mybearpawcraft shop, there are times it hits me that we are sitting in the wonderful Jo Averys shop surrounded by her incredible class samplers ... Pretty cool!

But we are a popular bunch and other want to join and there are only so many quilters we can fit in. So being an amenable bunch we looked for new premises and are going to try out Cluny church hall. Come back next month for a report on how that is working out. We were a select few for this months meeting, holidays etc. But it's quality not quantity you know 😬  Cathleen who'd off her bee blocks, love the colour palette, again a simple block but uber effective.
Audrey was first up on show and tell with this! Sooper fab drunkards path block with bias appliqué.
Audrey made these amazing little minis based on memories from her trip, how inventive, and what a super reminder of a great holiday.

I love our ladies soooo much, there is never any posing for blog pics, just oodles of excitement! Here is Margaret showing us I kat fabric bought on her recent Balinese trip. Fascinating hearing how it was made, stunning fabric too.
Honestly how fab is this?? Sooper fab? Yep I lovely Lesley made this quilt for pulse, I agree love is all you need and there is plenty of love at the Edinburgh modern quilt guild.
Small but perfectly formed, the lovely Janice entered these Liberty lovelies into a local show and won, well deserved Janice.
I think the look on Robins face says it all, doesn't this encapsulate how we all feel about our hobby? Lovely sew together bag as well Robin. It's a present for a friends mother, that's a lovely present!

Let's get serious here for a minute super secret stuff being talked about, but you won't tell anyone will you?

Ann's husband was on a recent trip to Japan and brought her back some gorgeous kimono fabric, with here usual sense of style Ann turns it into a quilty masterpiece!

Whoops! What you doing here you are out of sequence?! Never mind, more lovely Ikat fabric from Margaret.

Aww next up is this dreamy fairy tale quilt, now who would make this but our very own
Long arm princess Tatyana 😊😊

What a gorgeous block Cathleen! And for such a good cause, Jo is collecting blocks for a Maggies Centre quilt, this will do nicely 😊😊
Another quilt for pulse?? Don't let me ever hear anyone saying scots are mean! It's gorgeous too.

Deary me! The pictures are hopping about today, here is the inside Of Robins sew together bag.

Scottie dogs!! And how cute is this fpp Scottie dog by Barbara! Sooper awesome paper piecing skills! And lovely colours too.

So as far as guild meetings go I don't know when we will be back to Jos shop 😢😢😢😢😢 but we will now be able to hopefully accommodate more members 😊😊😊 and we know we will always find an excuse to go back and visit Mybearpawcraft (hint - she sells amazing fabric 😉😉😉)

 See you in September

Weekend with Sarah Fielke 3/3

Hmmmmm no sewing machines?? OMG we are only learning Hawaiian applique from Sarah Fielke!!! Now I can't do much hand sewing but if I'm going to learn how to hand applique I'm going to learn it from the Queen of applique, Sarah Fielke.

You can feel the concentration. It was a fabulous day. Again I was too busy concentrating on soaking up all the tips and hints from Sarah so there are not too many pictures but here are some of the fabulous creations from the table I was sitting at.

This isn't applique?? Well no quilt gathering is complete without cake, when our table learned that it was one of our members birthday one lovely lady went out and bought her a birthday cake at lunchtime!! Quilty folks are just the best.

Weekend with Sarah Fielke 2/3

Hmmmm what's going on here then??

*IMPROV LETTERS*!!!!!!!!!!!
When guild president Jo sent round an email asking what class everyone wanted to do with Sarah Fielke there was no contest. improv letters!! Improv with intent, that is what we wanted and that is what we got!
Look at the space above! What a fab space to sew in, Napier Merchiston campus.
We all started off making the same letter, an a.

How happy does Tatyana look with hers! And how gorgeous is it! I was more monochrome with mine, I wanted to spell my social media name, budsmam. So delighted with how it came out.

Well I do love the one below! I was sitting next to Lesley while she was making this. She is the driving force behind a quilt for pulse and wanted a banner at the top. This is going to be extra special.

Well who doesn't dream of love 😊😊😍😍😍

"All together now! All you need is love ..... All you need is love ..... All you need is love love, love is all you need" 😊😊😊
Many of the other ladies donated their words to Lesley for the quilt for pulse. This is going to be awesome.

Not many pictures, well if you were being taught by Sarah Fielke would you waste time taking pics? 😉
And here is the original *hyperventilates* yes we were allowed to touch 😍😍😍

Here we all are, happy with our letters, Sarah is at the front second from right holding up Jo's word - thread. A very happy group of modern quilters, thank you Sarah!

Christmas in March! For this month only i'm handing over the blog (mostly) to Mags Scammell. She is the host of tonight's ceremony...
