Virtual show and tell-February

It's that beginning of the month time when we look back and try to pretend that we've all achieved some finishes in February and not just a growing list of UFOs...

First up is Ruth, who has joined the "birds on a quilt" trend that seems to have occurred this month

She's joined by Karen, who seems to have had a very productive month, even if it only consists of birds

This is mine. It's called "Teddy picker" It doesn't contain any birds. But the original design won a third place at Quiltcon-well done Lucy! (This is Lucy Engels, not our own lovely Lucy. Although she was absolutely delighted with the confusion that led to her receiving many congratulations for her win, despite her never mentioning entering, or indeed having made this quilt 😂

This is Barbara G showing off again-just because she's got a longarm quilt machine and nobody else has! This is her quilt bingo finish. And yes, the quilting is stunning😲

This is definitely by our Lucy! A lovely gift for a new baby. If Quiltcon had a best gift for a baby this definitely would have won a rosette

Mags took 10 minutes out of her busy schedule to throw together this fabulous selection of Elizabeth Hartman creatures. Who knows how many makes she will have finished  by the time Krysten produces her new grandchild this month?

It's Karen again! Do not be distracted by other blocks-there are still birds!

And this is the back! Did she think we wouldn't notice them?

Katie showed us these beautiful heart cushions she made in a valentines day post. Such a gorgeous range of colours

Me again. This is now known as the bag from hell. It nearly broke me, but it's finished now. I thought it was handbag-size (not very good at numbers 😧) Both of my cats can sit in it. At the same time

And finally, Juliet shows that when you're stuck in lockdown miles from your own sewing room you can still create something with your grandchildren (we are assured that Juliet was responsible for the alcohol-related pieces!)

We also had a series of "this is me" posts as a way of introducing ourselves to our new members and they could introduce themselves to us. We leaned a lot of interesting things-

  • Jo's idea of a fun fact is that she was held up in an armed robbery
  • The reason Heather stays so calm while being events organiser is because she's been "working" with cannabis for the last 20 years
  • Margaret B was invited on a date with a certain Mr S Connery, but she's not telling if she accepted
  • Karen's idea of fun is to walk the length of this cold, wet and windblown country (no doubt looking for birds all the while)
  • Sheila looked after some famous people in a London hospital while being a nurse. She can't say who-probably so we don't know if they ever made it out alive
  • Tom is very busy-most of that time looks to be spent on having the world's cleanest dog
  • Mags once spent two weeks sleeping with the army winter sports team-this is possibly why we never win anything at the winter olympics

Christmas in March! For this month only i'm handing over the blog (mostly) to Mags Scammell. She is the host of tonight's ceremony...
