 Virtual show and tell-May 2021

Almost halfway through the year! We are beginning to meet in person, but only in small groups so it's not exactly but it's just nice to see people face to face and do some sewing. Here's what everyone has been busy with this month

First up this month is Audrey. Top picture shows her fabulous version of the Purdy bird pattern, and she also used up all the leftovers of this lovely fabric on some other projects.
Below is her fabulous improv cushion, ready just in time for the summer and this beautiful wall hanging

This is Caroline's first finish in ages! Love the muted colour scheme

The next instalment of Heather's Sue Spargo project, which just gets better and better

This is Lucy's entry in the "sew your own height in cushions" contest

These brilliant women were the result of a Gary Mills class taken by Juliet. It's a fusible applique project and could be used in many different ways
This is the result of the many other classes that Juliet has taken recently! They've been put together so cleverly to form this stunning quilt. It's been entered for inclusion in the RSA summer exhibition-i'll keep you posted on it's progress

Helen A has finished something! This beautiful piece of applique is actually a christmas project of a partridge in a pear tree but it's so pretty that it should be seen all year round

Our usual over-achiever Barbara G has been at it again, working her way through every pattern that Jenny Haynes can produce

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon with Judith Hollies recently, making her twisted pouch. Below are the results

And now, a new award being presented by the guild. Please meet the inaugural winner of the EMQG Ugly quilt award!!

This breathtakingly hideous quilt was the result of a class the quilter didn't want to go to, a pattern she didn't like and the most revolting fabric in her stash (although it begs the question of why she bought it in the first place?)
It was recently located, unfinished, in the bottom of a cupboard. Rather than throw it straight in the bin this brave quilter decided to finish it and enter it for this prestigious award.
Given the horror of this item we are allowing her to keep her anonymity-she was so embarrassed that you can just see her hiding behind it in the photo. She holds the title until someone else can produce something worse
