Finally! We meet at last!
September 2021. Our first face to face meeting since February 2020. We have a new venue and new members we’ve never met! Tonight we welcomed Avril and Catriona.
The consensus among the group was that there had been a collective loss of sewjo in recent months so everyone was looking for a bit of inspiration from the show and tell.
First up was the infamous bird woman of Glenshee, who has flown into Edinburgh for the winter, bringing with her another one of her feathery creations
This was so large that it was difficult to get it all off the ground!
This is Barbara’s latest finish. Barbara mainly makes quilts of this size to remind us all that she is taller than the rest of us
These are some of many dinosaurs that Barbara Mc has been slaving over, using gorgeous V&Co ombré fabric
This astonishing piece of hand sewing belongs to Karen. She made this for her granddaughter and then, having a few minutes to spare, she made another one for her other granddaughter
This lovely improv piece is one of the many that Juliet has produced during lockdown
This was an entry for a mini quilt challenge made by Pauline in memory of her mum who passed away earlier this year. You can’t see it in the photo but she is represented by a little butterfly attached to the heart
And this enormous quilt top is our guild’s entry for the MQG community outreach challenge. This year’s theme was angles(but no right angles) Now we just need to get this beast quilted by Barbara, who sort of volunteered to do it, and it will be ready to go
And this is our own Juliet, posing triumphantly with her quilt, which was accepted into the RSA’s summer exhibition!
Much cheering and applause all round 🎉🎉🎉
